nobody can stop this guy
9 fights this tournament, all 9 finished by a choke from the mount
anybody who was there have a write-up of the matches?
He's fucking unbelievable. And his "basic" (/ vinny) Jiu Jitsu is what crushes everyone. No fucking upside down De La Riva guard, no gogoplata transition to suitcase to knee pillow to mounted triangle armbar - just straight up shit you learn in your first month of BJJ..
basics > *
you can't beat shit like the knee-through pass
also info on checkmat bjj?
never heard of them and they placed 3rd in teams
never heard of them either.
Apparently Checkmat is basically Brasa reunited.
badass man. Dude seems to always get out of messy situations too
figures. I figured it had to be some already existed school with a new name.
Apparently Roger won both matches in his finals by a choke from the mount it doesn't get more basic than that.
Roger Gracie (Gracie Barra) submitted Ricardo Demente (Nova União) with a choke from the mount.
Roger Gracie defeated Romulo Barral (both Gracie Barra) with a choke from the mount
Barral is fucking awesome too..
I get swept too much going for a choke from mount. I need to sink it and move to side.
he was also the only one!!! in the black belt finals who submitted his opponent, all the other divisions ended in judges decisions, advantage or points.
i've been working on keeping the balance, i always get to technical mount if they try to roll and then take the back. Almost never finish the choke however
holy shit it gets even better. he had 9 fights total this tournament and guess what
he won them ALL by a choke from the mount
I've been toying with the s-mount but I have trouble finishing the choke. I either have to abandon mount to finish or just bait him with a choke from mount and take an arm, etc
Roger Gracie and Jean Jacque Machado are my two favorite BJJ personalities.....
Roger for just being kick ass.......
Jean Jacque for just being kick ass with one hand.......
i heard when jean gets a good grip with his claw its unbreakable
Both my instructors say the same thing......They are Machado BB's......
Here are some interesting links.....
tarsis was on FIRE until he ran into romulo.. it was a draw.. romulo won by ref decision.. btw tarsis looks mad roided up
oh and boo on alliance for closing out the middleweight category.. sergio moraes vs marelinho wouldve been awesome
very humble though, but would of been a heck of a battle, yeah.
i dont mind closing out of categories in smaller comps.. but at the worlds i wish everyone would compete..
