I got a message when I opened up word this morning
i went back to 2004, 08 kept crashing and i couldnt take it.
i'm still with neooffice
yeah, word 08 crashed a shitload on me
Interested as well....
2008 crashes but not as often to the point where it bothers me. Still a fuck ton better than 2004.
08 has only crashed on me like once.
I uninstalled office '08 after 15 minutes. Excel choked on a 4096 line excel worksheet and I couldn't figure out how to do a fast fourier transform even if it ran fast enough. Excel 2007 screamed with the same worksheet under VMWare virtualization and opens much faster as well.
It really pisses me off that the best office solution is still just booting up Windows in the VM and running Office 2007. Neo Office and Office for Mac are goddawful when it comes to graphing in a spreadsheet.
i don't really work with spreadsheets much, but have you given iWork '08 a try?
Yeah, it's even worse. It's very pretty, but it's truly a "spreadsheet for the rest of us (them)." Its data analysis tools are laughable compared to Excel's.
I uninstalled office 2008 beta and got iwork 08. not as good but.. I guess I'll wait for someone I know to get office 08 when it comes out and shares a key.
expiration seems to be hard coded according to what people are saying on multiple forums. im sure we see either a new release or maybe a crack.
The only problem I have with office 08 is it runs so damn slow. It's not my mac, i have a macbook 2.16ghz with 2gb ram. I tried iwork 08 and it runs great and I like it
yeah, office 08 seems nice, but needs some work, definitely a little slow
Numbers is geared more to the way most people use excel. While Excel shines (I can't believe I'm saying this about a Microsoft product) at number-crunching, it's piss poor when it comes to the way most people use Excel - as a page-layout tool.
I'd love for someone to come out with a pure number-crunching solutioon without all the bloat of Excel.
MATLAB, but sometimes I just don't feel like bothering with it for a simple FFT or linear regression. I agree about Numbers, it's fucking beautiful and I'm sure it works amazingly well for business presentations. I just don't use excel for that kind of stuff.
edit: Although MATLAB does have its own version of bloat. That beast can do anything.
There is a crack out there to remove the expiration date, search the torrent sites.
i only want word 08 for the citation machine it has
crack is out fyi
numbers needs to be able to create regression lines, then i would actually use it.
I have. I would switch to iWork '08 in an instant, but Numbers doesn't have any graphing features to speak of. That's a deal killer for me, and it's extremely annoying that Apple didn't think to include those features (or maybe they did, but are waiting for iWork '10)
Can someone host the crack for office 08? my school blocked torrents
i like a lot about iworks, however, I don't like pages autocorrect feature and that seems to be a deal breaker for me
that sucks ass man.
Try hooking up by ethernet in the library somewhere. That worked for me.
