since theres no serial?
Same thing that stopped you from installing leopard on multiple machines.
havnt dont that before.
the endangered species of conscience
so why do they sell family packs
so i dont need to buy the family pack for 2 macs, correct?
thats the main reason why im not pirating it.
its 29 bucks.
10 for ppl who recently bought macs
A ridiculous concept known as the honor system.... doesn't Apple know any better?
some people are honest...
also, if you're in a business, you'll probably want to run legit software
if you're a business you shouldn't be running the family pack
its pretty sweet that they dont have authentication.
but fuck that.
its $29 for a brand new copy...most people can swing that. $10+tax for those who just bought a new mac (such as myself).
its not like im buying xp or vista for a $100 +
MS needs to take some notes.
you can install it on as many machines as you want; you just can't use install discs from one mac with one of a different model.
why don't they require serials?
first - it's obviously going to be pirated anyway. why bother with the phenomenally annoying serial numbers, which led to activation, which led to Windows Genuine Advantage, which led to "This Copy Of Windows May Be Pirated!" popups?
second - unless you have the hardware and the knowledge to make a hackintosh (NOT most people), you can only run Mac OS on Apple hardware. they make more money on hardware. if you have an old mac machine, and you install the new OS and hear about how great it runs on the NEW mac, that's a pretty great advertisement to get you into a new computer down the road.
even if they're not spending $29 on the new OS, they're becoming part of the community, which is good for apple.
either way, the old 99/129 whatever was a bargain compared to vista pricing, dropping it to 29 is totally hot.
ps: windows 7 pricing is astronomical, i know they need to charge more, but damn.
so can i go straight from tiger to snow leopard for $29?
