to quote Jason Jesse "I MAY SKATEBOARD BUT I AM AN ARTISSTTTT"
Vans is incredibly difficult to shoot at, I would challenge any of you to try and shoot there.
i actually sorta like these ones.
#3 is the best
Have you ever shot there?
But I got bored near the end when every picture started to look almost identical
Prefacing your thread with a ridiculous comment like this is even worse than with a list of apologies about your gear. Or the priest at the wedding. Or that the sun was in your eyes and there was a hole in your mitt. Explain to me why that park is so difficult to shoot at vs. another park or a concert or sporting event. Or whatever else.
That said, I like these... try cropping tighter (or shooting tighter). The composition is decent as is but this isn't static portraiture or still-life. This is a theoretically extreme sport so the shots should have energy. Wide lens + tight composition = energy. Try shooting them a half stop or so hotter too and see where it goes - this will help get some more color in the shot too (watch your white balance here too, they're off a bit and in different ways). For an action sport they seem very static and dark. Or push them in RAW Also try dropping the shutter speed a little...these are very cool when the shot is frozen but peripherals like swinging arms or a flipping board or something has a bit of blur on it. That's tricky to pull of well but give it a go.
edit: and shake up your angles too. Lie down on your back and come up at #1 for example as he ride by you. Do some from down in the bowl and come up to exaggerate their air or get on a ladder and shoot down on a grind to get the whole bowl or whatever in the frame. Your angle(s)' fine but not for every shot. Shooting from the really low or really high, or with a dutch (tilt) etc. gives the shots a lot more drama.
It wasn't an excuse, retard.
I didn't say it was an excuse douchebag, I said its a stupid thing to preface a thread with if you're looking for a valid critique. I personally figured you were throwing yourself a compliment, which is an equally poor idea. Every location has its pros and cons and things that make it a challenge. At least you can throw light around that place - imagine if you couldn't use a flash
(i edited too, read the rest)
whats a flash?
evan can't take criticism. he's pretty much a troll and we all should ignore his threads.
do you take photographs of anything else ?
good advice with teh angles. i'd like to see some of those low shots from the bottom of the bowl as well
Does it fucking matter? God, you're a fucking troll.
Evan is a gigantic douchebag, The only reason I even came in this thread was to watch it turn into a trainwreck like the last one.
hahah evan is so gay
first the main board hated him, now a&p hates his pompous ass
why do you all fall for this over and over again. Go take pictures
why? its fun for everyone.
You mean....you can take pictures of things.....that aren't....skateboarding?
WOW U R SMRT
