I was doing a contract gig for an Arabic television network. Was on 2 World Financial Center for about 40 hours over 4 days.

I really wish I didn't have to fly to get there. Would have loved a tripod and remote shutter release for night time stuff. My 70-200 would have been pretty useful as well.

70-200 so nice, yet such a pain in the ass to take anywhere

Especially on Spirit air. I was able to take a 16 x 14 x 12 bag. 40d with 24-70 and tokina 11-16, full size golf umbrella, and hvx200 video cam without getting dinged for a carry on. Their policy says you won't be charged for a camera so i made sure to have a print out and it was fine.

70-200 is always a hassle

tripods are always a bitch on flights too. carry-on = they give you shit. put it in your checked luggage and hope dickface handling your shit doesn't destroy it

Nice. Must have a been a clusterfuck though scratching out your space with all the other crews on the ledge.

You have no idea, we probably only had 8 feet of room from the ledge to the wall, and had to leave room to move carts. We had probably left 18" as a walkway, it was reaaal tight. Producers wanted 2 shots as well, which wasn't fun but it all worked out. It was a great experience being there. A LOT of money changed hands getting those spots i think they were $5k for an 8x8, we had two.

Cool!

Covered our 9/11 Summit at the Newseum last week for work. Lots of great speeches/documentaries.

I've been really wanting to go to the newseum for a long time. I went there for a political function on the 7th floor this May and ended up getting hammered and hanging out with Vanna White all evening. It was a fantastic view of the capitol building.

Great place. The photo exhibits on the 1st floor and in the basement are superb.

Fortunately... I think our view next door is just a bit better

I wish I had actually been able to visit the exhibits, I just got to go in a party room. I love seeing some of the buildings in DC!
