My quads are connected to my knee caps in the wrong place. Sometimes when I run for awhile they start to hurt and if I ever try to do a squat with anywhere close to full ROM it kills my knees even if I only have 150 or so pounds on the bar. Leg extensions don't hurt my knees but I'd rather do workouts with free weights. Anyone ever have this problem? Could you do anything to help it? Are there other exercises for free weights I could try out or should I just do squats but not go all the way down? I can go down until my thighs are at about a 15-20 degree angle without it hurting my knees. My doctor told me a long time ago that whatever I can do to strengthen my legs would help the problem but didn't give me any specific exercises.
