btw those saleen have 425 hp thats like 50 more than a new cobra; how much are they? either way i love mahstangs

Saleens typically have more power, and usually cost a lot more. An 03 Cobra has tons of supercharged power, but if your looking to buy one, you will be smoked easily by lightly modified LS1s.
I'm not saying that in a hater way, I can admit, my LT1 gets smoked by lightly modified LS1s too

I'd take the Saleen just for the fact that it's more rare. The '03 Cobra is nice, but you see them everywhere nowadays.
LS1s come in Camaro SS, Z28, Firebird Trans Am, Formula (WS6s) and base model C5 Corvettes

you do know that cobras are damn easy to modify right, not even taking into acout the fact that they CAN run mid 12's box stock?
Just get the '03 Cobra and take the money left over and add the full Saleen kit to it and you would still have $20k left over. I think (not 100% sure) that the S-281E is a 2 valve motor. IMO the 4 valve has way more potential for mods.
Well of course...anything can be made to be fast. My friend has a ridiculously modified Miata that has a best run of 12.5 at our elevation of 5,800 feet. It's all in how much you wanna spend, but what I'm saying is, Cobras leave a lot to be desired.

i'm a GM guy, but even I will admit that the LS1's can't hold a candle to the 03 Cobra's. Chevy needs the LS6 to even keep up.

What the hell are you talking about??? I guess it's just my area. The only 03 Cobras around here constantly get their asses handed to them at the track or street.
Yay, look at me, I'm supercharged and I get stomped by LS1s with 100 dollars worth of mods...

you seem to forget one IMPORTANT factor the cobra has a BLOWER...slap a blower on an LS1 and you get 500hp EASY. Local guy has a 30th anniversary TA with I believe a Vortech system on it, after he tuned it he put down 571 rwhp. I was like HOLY SHIT it was the most impressive car I've seen on that dyno...although as soon as he misses a shift he's gonna have to rebuild after he bends the rods...LS1 vettes run 12.90s with good drivers, Cobras run 12.80's I've seen ONE 12.67 out of one that was stock. I'd still take the LS1. Spend about 1200 bucks in mods and run deep 12's and still get 30+mpg on the highway with the 6 speed. LS6>Cobra

its not about having the money to make things as fast as you want necessarily, though what 100 dollar bolt on will destroy a Cobra in a LS1
stock for stock Cobra>LS1
bolt ons Cobra>LS1
and, need i not mention he fact that there are a fair number of cobra owners running 550 + hp on their STOCK engine components, including blower, which is AT LEAST even with blown LS1's
Stock a Cobra will own an LS1. Period! Modding just opens the floodgates and it could go either way.
