No but I was thinking of getting it. $15 on Amazon is probably a steal for this game.

Yeah if you can get it for $15, that's awesome.

I lost my life to this game for about two weeks. I got really wrapped up in the story.

I still haven't finished it yet. I'm afraid to continue, because I know if I start playing again, I won't get off the damned computer lol.

best RPG in years. I wish you could buy cooler shit though. Damn near the only stuff I bought the whole game was books, and I do believe I bought everyone there is.

Yeah if I could change a few things about this game I'd change the items, for one. I just don't think there's any variation in weapons. There's no sweet 'loot' no +gear or anything. I understand why. It doesn't fit into the world or the role of a witcher. He's got his two swords and that's all he needs.

I'd probably also change the combat system. I don't mind the current one but I'd rather have left click be an attack, right click be parry/guard. Maybe that's just me

But i'd never touch the story, characters, environments or the soundtrack.

Downloaded this last night the Enhanced version - 10GB or so.

Installing today. I first seen this on release and looked like I wouldn't enjoy it but it looks like a solid game.

How does it compare to Oblivion?

Far better story, characters, music. The world is different. Hard to say which is better. This is more gothic. The world just went through a world-war type war. There's lots of racism toward non-humans due to the war. It is a very different game. Combat is timing based, it's not click click click like Diablo 2 or Oblivion even. Parry/blocking is done on percentages. When you attack an enemy you have 3 styles. Group, fast, and strong. Hover cursor over an enemy, a sword shows up, click once, you'll attack and the cursor will change to yellow. Then click again to chain together combos. It's kidna like a quicktime event. It's different but pretty cool, and you regret missing.

Also I've recently gotten into fistfighting and dice poker to gain money.

Also, also, you can have sex with like every woman in the game lol.

Oblivion is far more open, this is a bit more linear. It is a HUGE game though, I've played for hours and I've only dented it. And the story is fantastic so far. It's like playing through a book. I dunno, I'm gona go play it now, cya.

It isn't anything like Oblivion so keep an open mind. Its an actual RPG, not a hack 'n slash w/ RPG parts to it like Oblivion.

That's true. You actually play the role of Geralt...you make decisions for him.

What I find the most fun is the first 'town' you enter...all the decisions/actions/conversations eventually tie in somewhere down the story. The game is very dynamic. A LOT of moral questions. But there's not a Good/Evil meter, just a lot of decisions you get to make.

:o Good.... I hate it when games try to implement a "morality" system when you really only have a "good" and "evil" choice... dichotomy FTL. Morality is never black and white, but to show that in a game... must be pretty tough to do

Started playing last night. Like the combat system its unique.

One gripe though is turning the game settings down even on a 2.4Ghz Dual Core/4GB DDR2 RAM/8800GTS 512MB. Thought it would run a lot better.

Loading times can be a pain too. Apparently in the enhanced version they optimised game files for loading times but its still crazy. Still though. I'll get into it over the weekend and report back.

Oblivion has more 'dungeon crawls' available if you want. Although you can hunt in sewers in the witcher and you come across a few dungeon-like areas, it's not comparable to the size or frequency of dungeons in Oblivion.

The main storyline seems a bit longer. Oblivion seems to have more side quests. Oblivion has much more advanced graphics. The Oblivion world feels much larger.

The Witcher story is far, far more involving and compelling than that of Oblivion.

There is lots of 'exporation' that can be done in Oblivion, whereas the Witcher is limited to whatever area is relating to the story as you go along. Exploration in Oblivion can seem almost endless at times.

There is more useful gear and items that you randomly find while fighting enemies in Oblivion, whereas Geralt rarely gets upgraded armor or items. In the Witcher, you can go to a blacksmith and apply items to your weapon to make it stronger, but rarely do you replace the weapon itself. Upgraded armor is VERY expensive and most of the time it is more useful to buy books on plants so you can make potions. Potions are VERY cool and VERY powerful in The Witcher. Potions are just an added bonus in Oblivion.

Characters are far more in-depth in The Witcher. Although there is some moderate depth in Oblivion characters, you game is more affected by characters in the Witcher.

The game setting is more varied in The Witcher. Oblivion is mostly wilderness for exploration and towns that look comparably similar. Alot of the dungeons in Oblivion look similar. The main scene change in Oblivion is the gates, which all look almost the same inside.

In the Witcher, no one area really looks the same to the other. For example, one area of wilderness looks pretty different from another area of wilderness further along in the story. The main city at the beginning of the story has different districts which look quite different (poor vs. rich).

In Oblivion there is a huge amount of character customization. No character customization in The Witcher. You are also stuck to the one play style of The Witcher, whereas in Oblivion, you can choose a variety of styles (ie. mage, different types of magic schools, rogue, warrior, etc. and combinations of all different styles are possible).

omg I forgot about these. Some of the funnest shit in The Witcher is trying to sleep with all the women you can. You get a pretty pornographic image stored in a log every time you sleep with a different woman, and you can bring the image up any time you want. It's pretty funny.

The dice poker is SO addicting and you can make some good money off of it.

The brawling is hilarious and fun.

I agree also, the music in The Witcher is really good for combat and brawling. Boss fights feel so epic for both the difficulty and the intense music. It really gets your blood pumping.
