All I really want is to be able to sell covered calls and buy calls. Maybe a put here and there. The account value is pretty significant after feeding it these past couple years but I'm a long way from lambo status.

you should have a covered call sold against every single stock and option you own. start by selling calls that expire in 2 weeks and are 20% above the current price

who cares about your cost basis. sell a call 20% above the current price which will earn you something like 5% of your current cost basis. do that 20 times over a year and you've just doubled your money. however your gains are capped in the rare event that your stock randomly goes up 50% in a day

yes. for example Apple today is $155. sell a call expiring in 2 weeks at $162.5. You are given $80 for that sale. As long as Apple doesn't hit $163.2 in the next two weeks you've just made free money. Reinvest that $80 right back into apple stock and you now have an extra share. Do this 1000 times a year and you'll find you have much more shares of stock than before.

there's a riskier but more cost effective version of this where you buy 1 call option at a lower price and sell 1 call option at a higher price. It's much cheaper than having to hold 100 shares of the underlying stock

Treasury Secretary Yellen says not all uninsured deposits will be protected in future bank failures

Republican Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma pressed Yellen about how widely the uninsured deposit backstops will apply across the banking industry.

“Will the deposits in every community bank in Oklahoma, regardless of their size, be fully insured now?” asked Lankford. “Will they get the same treatment that SVB just got, or Signature Bank just got?”

Yellen acknowledged they would not.

Uninsured deposits, she said, would only be covered in the event that a “failure to protect uninsured depositors would create systemic risk and significant economic and financial consequences.”

Lankford said the impact of this standard would be that small banks would be less appealing to depositors with more than $250,000, the current FDIC insurance threshold.

Expect to continue to see a flood of deposits leave these smaller banks and head to the "big boy" banks

Who the fuck has $250k in a bank account anyway? It wasn't long ago we heard from everywhere that most of us didn't even have $5k for an emergency.

wtf lol is this a backpedal?
Nah. They announced a one time thing. Not a permanent policy change.

Or at least not one they would ever publicly commit to.

Systemically important just needs to be passed back down to banks the size of SVB, rolling that back was stupid.

Schwab finally sent their "cool your tits" email

"As an investor, it's important to remember that your Schwab investments held at the Broker Dealer are not commingled with assets at Schwab Bank."

Aka, Chuck fucked the bank sector up, but the brokerage will be fine

I don't use the banking product much, so IDGAF frankly
