is there a way to track these CDS things live? I keep googling it but don't have any live data and have to rely on people posting twitter pictures

Not really a surprise. It’s why housing hasn’t dropped and those of in real estate have said don’t expect it to. There is very little new homes being built and for the people with low rates - they have no interest in moving. in fact the drop in interest rates this week had a bunch of people lock in rates and I guaruntee you many will be on a buying frenzy before it expires.

It’s a complete shit show out there. From CS to the rates to Powell. And any of these sectors blowing up in wrong way (CS is scary) could have far reaching effects.

I think CDS is a "big boy only" market not really available to retail traders.

Not sure where to get the data.

Schwab is a custodian of your assets, if they are doing anything illegal with those assets (i.e, that would be fraud) then SIPC coverage starts to kick in

But we're talking $7t in assets here, and how many millions of customers?

You're fine, even if they have completely fucked their banking department, and even then, someone would become a large shareholder within a week's time and all would be restored

The problem with all of these banks is that they invested in long term bonds with low yields, but at the time those yields were all they could get, so now the bond value is depressed, but not worthless, nor will they ever be worthless

You're fine
Again... I'm not worried about Schwab it was more of a hypothetical question.

If I was using Bob's Brokerage down the street and they went under or their IT systems were hacked and lost all their data, how would I prove which equities, mutual funds, and ETFs I had ownership of and get that recognized by a new brokerage?

The stocks are held at depository trust, good explanation here from FINRA
