man my quarterly estimated taxes were right on the money last year. i'm getting a $16 refund. first time in over a decade i'm getting ANY refund :rofl:

moving from an apartment to a house and my 'home office' expense deductions being real money now probably helps.

i'm about back to even on CME (even after the dividend reinvestment). thoughts on buying more..or trimming?

@993kgt

I've been selling calls and doing well, it is mostly flat performance for me

I was going to lose the dividend but it pulled back from 188 down to 182 and my calls expired worthless, so I sold more!

do they do those special dividends every year, do you know?

they have historically, and they've also raised their dividend consistently

many companies attempt and goal to do this, to try to be one of the dividend aristocrats

it's the blue chip of blue chips from that perspective, especially if you're on a fixed income portfolio

if you know what you're doing you will never lose

let's say the March 31 AAPL $162.5 call gets blown up because Apple has a huge month. Then you just buy back the $162.5 call and you sell an April 6 $165 call for the same price. Keep laddering it up and don't lose any money.

ha, so funny you posted this. i've been looking into covered calls for AAPL and was thinking of pulling the trigger today. How easy is it to 'buy back the call' though?

Yeeeee. Well aware. I've bought call options prior and done my research. But I've never sold a call option and the only stocks I can really do that with are AAPL and CELH (only shares I have 100 of for covered calls). Just the idea of buying it back seems nebulous through my Chase financial portal. Since I've been holding the AAPL shares so long I'd rather just be a long term holder of them (especially since I don't know the tax consequences in case the strike price is hit and call expires in the money).
