and you had 20k for a budget, what would you waste it on?
lighting, skills and advertising
The power of Zeus !
honey..my love..could you be just a tad bit more specific
what lighting would you choose, why, wouldnt you add props to the room? maybe hair lamps?
Elinchrom, Profoto, Broncolor,
norman 2400 watt packs
lots of different sized softboxes and umbrellas
lots and lots of C stands
lots of sandbags
a studio tripod
remote shooting capabilities
decent sound system
good light meter
ass loads of various sync cords
few different rolls of seamless
a few different muslins
a support system for muslin and seamless
black or med gray paint for all the walls
plexiglass for over the seamless
lots of light stands
oh and one of there
minus well handhold natual light with zeus on your side
get lyk 4 1ds mark 2ns and shit and maybe those dope 15-2000VR glass for them.
Honestly. Business plan. Advertising. What kind of studio work?
20k behind someone without skills is worthless as well.
but of course since we are talking about me it isnt someone without skills..just someone that doesnt suck that bad
nah the idea is mostly for modeling and im sure some advertising will be included, there is a possible investor, he has quite a few contacts in the modeling bizz and he believes that here in the island there is a lack of real good studios. This is an opportunity I want to really make the best of
damn thats a lot of stuff, thought I dont know if I like that virtual background thingie just seems too fake
its a waste, its just a high powered 35mm slide projector. it would take forever to get the lighting right and balancing the background and the subject, and it still just looks fake. cool idea though.
Chroma Key > that vbcrap
i'd make myself a dark room so i could print all my own,
i love doing my projects all the way through
but that's just me
welcome to 1990
On a serious note I also love making my own prints but no one really prints their own stuff anymore..
Darkrooms were only cool because it was so chilly in there that all the girls had THOs.
darkrooms are kinda fun, but I always end up having a metallic taste and my fingers are nasty from the some of the chemicals. someday I should probably get gloves or tongs.
Bare hands = professional.
you should start out with a couple lights and reflectors...do you have any experience with studio lights? they take a little time to get used to
i wear gloves
less e-coool, but in 50 years your hands won't look like you were a mutant
Bah. I spent three years processing film and prints by hand (well actually not the prints...they were processed thru an automatic printer but I still had to change chemicals) and I never wore gloves. Besides, D-76 makes for a great aftershave!
i used tongs followed by swearing and then fingers
Yea tongs never work unless you have enough time to process one print at a time. The prints always get stuck together then there's no other option than to get your hands wet, or use the thongs from another chemical tank.
ohh this is some good advice..I didnt think about the model makeup area..ill definitly keep this in mind
You'll need an office area and a greeting (receptionist) area as well. This is where you should put some nice leather sofas and track lighting that shines on photos that you've taken that are hanging on display so people can admire your art while they wait for their appointment. When I have my own studio my waiting area will probably be about $10,000 alone. Gotta have the customers confy while they wait, and first impression is everything!!!
