Like the title says, I want to hear everything you guys know about 19D, the Calvary Scout.
NV National Guard. They are putting together a new Cav unit in Vegas, and 19D is one of the jobs they have available. The others are truck driving type jobs.
A quick google search produced this:
I saw that. I am more curious about opinions people have on it, what they really do, how often they get killed, wounded, etc.
you're looking at combat MOS' but you fear for your physical well-being?
Anyway, the job sounds like a Pioneer patrolman on our side, a now defunct, hopefully soon to be reinstated specialty for combat arms soldiers. They grew big beards, and were total badasses. Basically a bit of all the combat arms mixed up together.
The infantry's recce patrolman, armoured recce, artillery forward observer with lots of engineer blow shit up training
No fear of physical well being. I've fucked myself up pretty bad in the past (broken femur, collarbone, pelvis, etc). Its more out of curiousity. Going into something blindly is never a good idea, so I at least want to know what the fuck I am getting into.
well the only advice I can give you with that is listen to the docs
cav scouts are unique little creatures. they performed the role of infantry in our AO but maintained motorpools chock full of armor.
I have been. The only thing that will potentially hurt me is the rod through my leg, but the ROM is the same, and it is every bit as strong or stronger than the other leg.
Does that mean the play like infantry sometimes, but have badass armor that has real fuck shit up potential? I'm good with that.
Damn, no Army guys are in this MOS or know people in it?
My cousin is a 19D currently in Iraq, next time I get some online time with him i'll ask for his 2 cents
My old squad leader hated scouts with a passion. His point of view was basically they took only one small aspect of our MOS (recon) and made an entire fucking MOS out of it...except they aren't as good at it as us
our scouts are idiots
Are you Army? What is your MOS. The local NG unit is the 221st Calvary, and I'm still trying to decide on the MOS I want.
