i got a speeding ticket this weekend - first one in texas. now, my car is registered in FL and my drivers' license is NJ. can i still take the defensive driving course and have the ticket wiped off my record?

Take the deferred adjudication. Go 6 months without a ticket within that city and the ticket is "dropped". It will not be reported to your insurance company if you complete the 6 month probation period.

does deferred adjudication mean i can't get a ticket IN TEXAS for six months, or anywhere?

not that i plan on getting more, but i'm leaving this state in a month or so. of course, with my luck the second i choose that i'll get pulled over anyway.

i think i'll just call the DMV and try to figure this out - having my registration, insurance, and license all in different states makes it complicated to get a straight answer off their web site.

I guess it depends if those two states share data.

No, the probation is limited to just the city you are currently under deferred adjudication. I was running DA in three different cities at one time back in 99. Had a friend running DA in 6 cities and doing traffic school for another.
