I use Vim. The learning curve is a bit steep, but once you take the time to learn it, you'll realize how powerful it is. It's great because I can use the the same editor with the same settings on any machine I work on.

yeah a 2nd for vim. awesome tool but not worth the time unless you code a lot.

Scite. Notepad++ is a bloated version of Scite (both based on the open-source Scintilla)
