She’s cool with them. A lot of times it seems she just kicks them off also too

how did you get your kid to take covers? My 2 year old hates blankets/covers

imo the key is to tuck them in when they're already sleeping. Check ears first to see if they're cool or hot. Cool ears mean they could use a blanket, hot means nope. Take the time to very gently wrap their feet up as that's the part of them most likely to be uncomfortably chilly. Make sure the diaper is covered as it cools against skin and can cause a chill. A nice, tender tucking in when they're mostly asleep is a comfort that they can finally tolerate while disarmed of the hyped up baby bs. They don't know what's good yet - we've got to develop strategies to mitigate the fervor of being suddenly alive so they can find joy in the special things we know are worth it.

3. My kid got a stomach bug over the weekend, and holy shit do I love/hate that. Love it because he becomes docile and cuddly and needs very little. Hate it cause its just not the way he be.

For like the first year of life it's a leading indicator of something being wrong. If you're smart and want to keep yourselves sane, you'll track every bodily function in an app while (and long after) kiddo is nursing. Just like women need to know the first day of their last period for every single doctors appointment, you'll need to be able to recall the last event to your pediatrician. Poops are quite literally all you and your wife will talk about regarding the baby when you're still in infant stage; color, texture, amount.

Nothing humbles you like tending to every need of another human who depends on you for literally everything.
