how did you get your kid to take covers? My 2 year old hates blankets/covers
imo the key is to tuck them in when they're already sleeping. Check ears first to see if they're cool or hot. Cool ears mean they could use a blanket, hot means nope. Take the time to very gently wrap their feet up as that's the part of them most likely to be uncomfortably chilly. Make sure the diaper is covered as it cools against skin and can cause a chill. A nice, tender tucking in when they're mostly asleep is a comfort that they can finally tolerate while disarmed of the hyped up baby bs. They don't know what's good yet - we've got to develop strategies to mitigate the fervor of being suddenly alive so they can find joy in the special things we know are worth it.

Started baby on water in open cup, he’s good at getting it to his mouth and actually swallowing some sips… his face though when he first gets the water and lets it dribble out of his mouth

grandma is in town and we are sort of being lazy parents for the first time in a few months and then the kid got sick and lost his first tooth. Sometimes its like the second you look away, you miss a moment.

The only tooth I didn’t collect is from kid being at Grandma’s house and she lost it.

Yes I save their teeth. IDK why.

This kid asking about me Timbaland. Discovering our old music like we did with our parents music :hs:

Updates:

  1. Tooth Fairy came and left an American Silver Eagle for the first tooth! (Mission Accomplished!)
  2. Happy Birthday to @beddachedda
  3. My kid got a stomach bug over the weekend, and holy shit do I love/hate that. Love it because he becomes docile and cuddly and needs very little. Hate it cause its just not the way he be.

Happy Monday Squadrmom!

The kid finally has a snotty nose and a cough. So much boogers and sneezes.
Ah man that reminds me. For the longest time when mine sneezed it was a guarantee that green snot was all over her face

Now it’s super rare. I’m still so used to dropping everything when she sneezes to go wipe it and I still do a double take lmao

Does anyone else's four year old pump out massive shits? Dude drops bigger logs than me 🥴

No but I wiped my 4 year olds ass 4 separate times before noon today.

8 am “daddy my tummy hurts”

Then she started shitting.

Each a respectable size.

Idk where she bad stores it all tbh

Idc I will NEVER talk about my baby/kid’s number two’s so casually and frequently like y’all :rofl3:

Is there a remind feature on OT? If so, I need to check this post in 20 months.

For like the first year of life it's a leading indicator of something being wrong. If you're smart and want to keep yourselves sane, you'll track every bodily function in an app while (and long after) kiddo is nursing. Just like women need to know the first day of their last period for every single doctors appointment, you'll need to be able to recall the last event to your pediatrician. Poops are quite literally all you and your wife will talk about regarding the baby when you're still in infant stage; color, texture, amount.

Nothing humbles you like tending to every need of another human who depends on you for literally everything.
