Star Trek Picard Season 3, in my opinion, is so far kicking ass the way Stone Cold and The Rock kick DX's ass every week during the WWE Attitude Era.

But then again, people tell me I am overly nice.

But I love this show.

Didn’t this guy hate season 1 and 2?

Yeah, and I no longer believes shit he says, in the review that was posted I think on the previous page, he shit on The Mandalorian by saying its Mediocre and he would rather watch Picard Season 3 than Mando Season 3.

Quoting myself because I think it's still the case. I'm at the very least allowing the little things prevent me from trying to enjoy it.
I just finished it, Ehh, it was OKAAAAAY. But we've been SERIOUSLY scarred and burned from the first two seasons. There's a lot of things I can nit pick about this first episode, but I'll just wait and see how the Prologue (Episode 1-6) plays out to see what all these other people have been raving about so much. I just want have to see it for myself.

One thing is the Titan just looks weird to me, not a fan of it on here for some reason. It was perfectly fine on Lower Decks, it just looks smushed together, and the CGI looks like not good on it for some reason. :dunno:

Also, still not a fan of Rafi. So FAR, she's not as insufferable, and
I was hoping her no longer being Starfleet would have been nice
and would have helped to accept her for who she is, but her scenes still felt kinda cringe. And I must have missed who the hell he was talking to the whole time. Was it just the ship computer or some AI from some Starfleet Intelligence Agency. I was so confused.

The Titan is the way it is as a callback to the movie-era Constitution Refit.

The saucer profile is unmistakable, EVEN DOWN TO THE WINDOWS, and even down to the usage of "refit" language and it's class name. "Neo-constitution." It's a manipulation IMO. The CGI is probably weird because the source code from Star Trek Online is not super high resolution.

So as usual, they literally tried to copy/paste from game to TV. GOT IT!

They could have moved the nacelles more to the rear instead of in the center. It just looks all smushed together. It's ugly. Angry Joe and Co even agreed with me.

Why is this show so fucking DARK?

Talk about depressing.

TNG shit was bright and everything this thing is like a haloween episode OOF.

Having said that I do think episode 1 was decent.

Season 3 > Season 2 > Season 1(So far)

I just wish we could fast forward to where its supposed to be amazingly good. Because the first episode definitely wasn't it.

"Computer, divert all power to the Warp Core!"

"You want to divert power back to the power source? Does not compute, please retry request."

Just one of many nitpicks, but @the_antsy_honda that Pump Action Shotgun Phaser Rifle was VERY stupid, AND when I re-watched the scene, I initially missed the part where the gun yells outloud for all to hear when you're out of "ammo".

I mean on the one hand you have to let some of that shit go when you watch a movie, it's about a cinematic experience. I understand why writers think pump action type guns are more action-y, because they watched T2 and they think shotguns are more "in your face" type of thing. Whatever. But on the other hand, it seems kind of weird to have technology go backwards.

Maybe if it was very powerful? Like if it was like a bazooka or something. Or perhaps if it was a smart gun and homed in on targets. But as it is? Obvious situation of choosing cool factor > logic.

And then the communicator thing...I understand from the storytelling perspective why they wanted her message to go to his communicator. But even in real life this doesn't make any sense. All our shit in real life is connected. We'd get a notification on our phone, on our watch, on our pc, in real life anywhere we go when we got a message. We don't need to dig up our old LG Chocolate to get DMs from our defunct MySpace accounts. That part was dumb as shit and bothered me so much. And the exposition of him talking to the computer to explain even what the fuck it was....my god.

I just have to remind myself it's being written for literally the dumbest person that ever watched TV and it is bearable.

oh god i hope that's not picard's kid somehow. With the totally obvious foreshadowing in the opening scene about his legacy, I have a hard time believing it isn't. if so, why does he have a british accent? beverly doesn't
Yeah, and that actor is easily in his 30s... no way the math makes sense.

okay, so now to the things I liked:

1. Picard/Riker chemistry is still there, and it was good to see. I am a little concerned about the manufactured drama between Riker and his family, but from what I read it doesn't last and things are cheeky. I hope they're right. But the TNG family aspect has always been really strong and I like that they are sticking with it. Especially with them risking it all for Beverly even though she seemingly snuffed them all for 20 years.

2. I liked the music. Mostly this is because it is just recycled music from past entries, but it is utilized very well. The shuttle-Titan music, mixing in the main theme, even First Contact music at the end.

3. Despite it being cringey as all out, I did like seeing Geordi's daughter. She seemed positive, happy, and was a stark contrast (so far) to the likes of some of the other more Grimdark aspects of the series. The fact is is his real life daughter is also really cute. Like super cute. And she's cute :naughty: I hope nothing but good things happen for her character.

4. Pacing seems to be a million times better than what I saw of S1 and what I've read of S2.

Things on my mind:
1) the flute and, when he held it, the melody played in the background. I need to watch that TNG episode again - it was definitely in the top 5 TNG episodes
2) Rafi's storyline - is that happening in some alternate timeline? It's not related to any of the other story lines. Also, she's searching for the 'red lady' who will ruin everything... and here she is, completely dressed in red, acting insanely crazy. Isn't it obvious that she is the red lady? And why is she so bipolar?
3) I totally want the Lower Decks characters to walk by in the background. Maybe have Jack Quaid run by (with purple hair) in the background holding some sort of green bubbly liquid.

For Rafi, from what I understand the writers room just didn't know what to do with her. I guess because of drastic writing direction shifts every season, a lot of the actors maybe contractually or for whatever reasons they kept, and others they totally got rid of. Other videos touched on it. Basically they rewrote new characters for several actors, and in the case of Rafi, who was a more well written and liked character, they kept her as is...but didn't know what to do with her. So she has a B-side story that seems like it will hook up again with the main plot at some point. Pretty clumsy IMO, her entire contribution to this episode was googling Red Lady
