well i was going to theorize it was the portal weapon, but since they jettison that to chase after Titan but the deflector array is still there, that clearly isn't the case.

this season has been good imo, so much better than anything i saw of season 1.

so honestly as good as that scene on the holodeck is, i love it even more because it points to something else in Trek canon... Wolf 359 was such a desperate fight that pretty much EVERY Starfleet officer of a certain age will have been involved in it. Sisko, Shaw... these guys are representative of an entire generation of Starfleet officers that was victimized by Locutus--the fact that it echoes in Picard's life decades later is probably the best choice they've ever made thematically.
