what sort of % or tip would you suggest for a $120 black tattoo, first time at the shop?
I think bare minimum is 20%. I tip about $50 for every $150 I spend.
cool...thanks, anyone else?
about 20%, if I feel they have gone out of their way to make me happy, like change my barbells out for free, not even a jewelry cost, i tip like 50% of what I think the cost would have been.
Word. . . I tipped close to 30% for my first tattoo since it took the artist shorter than expected. . . she did an excellent job, and was extremely understanding and patient of me needing extra time for my body to acclimate itself to being cut. (A fan and some cold water in a washcloth was just thing I needed . .. good chairside manner made the experience for me)
how many times is this going to be asked?!? we should have a FAQ at the top of the page for questions like this.
$20 for a $90 enough?
I think so.
Is this really typical to tip?
Just curious because I had never, ever, heard of it before OT.com.
I always assumed the artists are getting paid fairly well for the amount of time it can take.
They are performing a service...you tip them. You supposed to tip tattooist, hair dressers, hot dog vendor, waiter, etc.
I'm not for or against tipping a tattoo artist...just curious. True they are performing a service but there are a lot of 'services' you get but don't tip for.
I pretty much tip for every service except someone helping me in a retail store. That's all I can think of.
fastfood? Person at the deli in the grocery store?
I wouldn't tip them either.
