Am I missing much?
I'm going to stick with this one. You have missed out on a learning experience that I personally might deam unimportant. high five bro
it just got me thinking when I read Edgar Allan Poe's quote
"it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all"
It's possible Poe had never felt how fucked up it feels to have loved and lost.
I never fell in love UNTIL i turned 18 found someone amazing and have been hooked ever since its odd to think about because I have been told by quite a few people I have " a black heart" whatever the fuck thats spossed to mean, but I think its all a matter of patience. I would say your not missing out on anything your just enjoying your current life and times with friends. shit happens outta nowhere is all I have to say but im sure once you do find "love" you will understand what im attempting to say
Love is a nice feeling when you're emotional stable and can understand what it means to love another.
yea, the best feeling is being able to trust that other person completely and your relationship is that much stronger with that honesty there
You are 18 and never have been in love? Don't worry about it. Remember, Cupid does not have a timetable. Someday, when you least expect it, BOING! One of those arrows will pierce your heart and from that day forward you will never be the same. When it does happen, I hope you run with it, appreciate it, and fully understand its value.
Poe probably lived the most fucked up life when it comes to that so I advise you check that out
I agree with the person who said it's a learning experience I say it can be painful and forgettable, I don't think it's unimportant. Unless of course you were lucky enough to find "the one." Which is tough. It does feel good though to care about someone with all your heart though.. even if they don't feel that way back..
same here man for the most part, just turned 18 a few weaks ago too.. eh what can you do? i try not to think of it anymore and just go on the when it happens, it'll happen...
o well i suppose.
You don't want to aspire to E.A. Poe. He was fucked in the head like nobody's business.
Honestly, don't worry about it. Give it time, as long as you're out there dating, having relationships, whatever, love will come along eventually when you find someone lovable.
Might I remind you that Poe was a drug addict and manic depressive?
Love... Love is fucked up.
As a guy, you will (probably) fall harder and faster than the girl, and that probably wont change once it starts.
I know from experience... not even 18 and was in love 3 times, only to get my heart stomped on...
At one point in your life, you will feel the way the guy on the right feels all of the time. Sad and alone; but not because your pants don't fit.
You're 18, you have your whole life ahead of you, grasshopper.
Now if you were posting this and said you were 35, I might think you had some serious issues going on.
Possible it could be that he was trying to convince himself.
My apologies, I should of stated that I wasn't using Poe HIMSELF as a model of perfection or anything.
The quote on the other hand seems to have truth to it, considering all I ever hear about love is that it's some kind of magical feeling/place/mindset...whatever you want to call it. Experiencing love, I thought, was something that most people have done by their 20's and was necessary to move onto other things like moving away from home, becoming finacially independant, just growing up in general. It makes me feel better, way better that people are saying it isn't necessary and that I'm not alone....Thanks
im 19 and have had my heart stomped a few times as well...fuck 'em. i just get back up. love sucks worse than anything when it isnt returned.
(Bird Screech) NEVERMORE!!!!!! (Bird Screech) One of the better things he's written besides Annabel Lee that poem still gets me everytime.
Besides EAP, love is a great thing once its truly given and truly recieved back. You have a lot of time dont sweat it find a great girl first then worry about falling in love.
Now excuse me I have to go read Annabel Lee now.
