Anything is possible but I don't think I've ever seen a misfire on a 2UZ that wasn't a coil pack.

Yeah. It's pretty much always the coil packs. I'd buy a new one and just swap it out. If for some reason it's not that, you at least have a spare for when one does inevitably go.

Could be a number of things, but don't rule out the coilpack so quickly. It can take 50+ miles of driving for the computer to recognize the change and change the CEL code.
It was the injector. Replaced it and it works great. I used techstream so I can see the live misfire count. He is very happy, the engine runs like a dream now at 289k.

Ya swapped coils and plugs with Cylinder 4 to see if misfire moved but did not. Replaced injector all good now.

Injectors or wiring, likely injector with that amount of mileage

Im taking my 3.4 apart right now to fix the same thing, random misfire on cyl 4, new cable, plug snd swapping coil pack around didn’t fix it so off comes the intake plenum
If you ever really need help a guy I know from the Bay moved his machine shop to San Felipe. He is a Toyota expert.

Guys, I'm going to be selling my Tacoma. Had a second kid last month and it just doesn't work as our family hauler anymore. If it had 6 inches more rear legroom I'd be keeping it.. love this truck, but I've got a 2022 F-150 on order from the local Ford dealer. 😭

I need to figure out a fair price that will sell somewhat quick but not undercut the value that I know it has.. any advice? Thinking like mid-30s.. I really have no idea. Will probably list it for sale this week.

Put it up for $50k and work from there. Somebody will probably pay for it.

they are going for ~$30 on ebay each and they are selling out  $30 for a hot wheel. The world is a crazy place right now.
First edition 4runners on hot wheels premium line. They will fetch a high dollar now and into the future. Just sucks for us 4runner enthusiast.

We sold the Tepui and got a Roofnest instead, which is so much easier to use.

Pulled my truck apart the other day to fix my misfiring cylinder 4 and brought the injectors up to a fellow who cleans them here in town, all checked out ok so I chucked out the one on cylinder 4 out and put my spare and the rest back in, get it all button up and fire her off, no leaks yay!

But... I still got the same misfire wtf!

So I start thinking that @jaunt jinxed me and I pulled out my compression tester, 180psi so that’s not it, check the spark again, all good, check plug she’s good, so I start trying to weasel a long screwdriver up under the plenum so I can hear if the damn injector is clicking, and as am wrestling with it I push on the wiring loom on top of the fuel rail and the damn misfire goes away... aha!!! I keep fuckin with it and can easily replicate it and figure out it’s definetly in the loom somewhere under the plenum, soo... gotta take it all apart again :wtc:

Ran outta light for the day

Oh well, at least I think I found the damn problem, wiring gremlin FTL!!

I’m about 45k miles in on my Continental Terrain Contact AT and they’ve been good but probably by spring I’ll be replacing them. I use my 4Runner more than anything to drive to work in north Philly where roads leave a bit to be desired. Was pondering Falken Wildpeaks or I may just do the Continentals again. Anyone have a good experience with either tire or another I should look at?
