Well, I'm in the middle of my pistol permit. Here's some of the stuff I have to do in New York State. 1. 4 Notarized Letters of Reference 2. 2 Full length forms 3. Arrest Affidavit 4. 3 sets of fingerprints, 1 for the FBI 5. Interview with County Sheriff 6. $90 Money Order ..and more stuff. And then, I can't take it to uptown Albany, NYC or uptown Buffalo. ...and I've chosen my first gun. And some of you will be like , but anyone who's ever shot a gun before will understand. My first pistol will be a Carbon Fiber Walther P22 (.22LR pistol) Firstly, although I'm applying for "Carry Concealed" they won't approve it. Period. In my county of residence, Westchester and Orange, they have no carry concealed. So I'm not buying this for self-defense. At home, I have my Dad's guns, and his shotgun. So, that's not really an issue. Secondly, when I was shooting my dad's, 9mm's, .40's and .45's, my inexperience is showing. Although I've been to the range dozens of times with them, I'm having trouble getting reliable tight circles at a distance. When I shoot, I naturally compensate for the recoil and blink. I decided to buy a good .22LR pistol, get blocks of ammo and shoot it until I can watch the whole slide work back and the brass fly out the side without blinking. When I can get that down, I'll be ready to drop the $$ on a 'big boy' gun. A 9mm, I think. So, thoughts, props, flames? What do you all think?
