ART Video editing question MP4

I just got a video camera that only outputs mp4s. I used to use windows movie maker for editing but it doesn't do mp4s. Are there any simple free or inexpensive mp4 editing programs out there? I've tried 3 or 4 different ones
so far but they are all total shit.
