And you want to be a Marine why?
Nothing new. Those "guidelines" have been in place for a few years now. Just like there isn't any physical contact in Marine boot.
most hardcore D.I.'s ignore that bullshit completly
I think he was implying that.
that is mainly for Fort Jackson and the other non infantry basics. From what I heard Infantry OSUT is not as easy as those for now.
boot camp is boot camp, it was never hard. ever
I seriously can't tell if that is a man or woman.
You need to check your gaydar. It's a woman baby!
cell phones at bootcamp? i think the air force will finally have something to be jealous of.
yea im pretty sure every branch that does OSUT is closed off to most of this sissy bullshit. Engineer OSUT, Infantry OSUT, etc...
I was gonna say something, saw they video and the carpet eating sergeant they had on and though, meh, Ft Jackson, land of the females and pogues.
i would have seriously killed someone for a phone call home. That old guy is right about following orders though... to a reliable extent.
They call it Relaxin Jackson for a reason. I am glad I went to Fort Knox for basic.
That is fucking gay. I can't even imagine Benning being like that.
On a related note, I watched that "Making A Marine" show on the Discovery Channel or whatever the other day and it was one long . I couldn't believe the easy, pussy shit they were doing. I looked at it about the same as I did Annapolis, that it must look hard to civilians, but anyone who knows anything can see what kind of pussy shit it really is. I lost alot of respect for marines that day.
Yea i've had two buddies go through Marine boot camp within the last 6months. Both weren't in a good shape and one was a complete dork, and even in worse shape. They both said it wasn't bad at all. Their biggest complaint the amount of retards there.
Well, it is the Marines.
actually experience some form of boot camp before feeling qualified to comment on it.
I graduated from BCT in November 2004 from Fort Benning.
DS's hardly ever put their hands on anyone, they only did when someone did something extremely fucking stupid, like potentially put someones life in danger. We got yelled at daily, fuck that, almost hourly, and smoked/harassed every step of the way.
BCT is to instill discipline and basic soldiering skills, it is the ground level to build a soldier up from. after you are knocked down to nothing and forced to live that life, you have no where else to go but up and people grow.
Fort Jackson has been for pussies for a long time. I hear stories all the time of people fucking and doing drugs while in BCT there, it is just a joke.
In a way, I can understand why they are going lighter. We had a few guys from my company during basic who pussied out of simple shit (rapelling [*sp*] and gas chamber) and i bet they would have made it if the DS's would have been nice instead of ripping their flags/US Army patches off and calling them pussies...
just so everyone understands...the Command Sergeant Major of the Army visited a local community (Heidelberg) and I was able to sit in to listen to the things he said. YES, it is true that the Army did not meat the recruiting goals for the last year, but people fail to notice some things. Each year for the last year the goals have been raised, by something crazy like 30,000. Well, we made it the year before, but this year we feel a little short, but STILL recruited more. Retention is up to. People need to stop riding that cock and pick another topic to talk about.
I believe people need their asses kicked, it BUILDS teamwork. In that vid they said they are working on team building, but I beleive it should be the opposite. There has to be a line drawn between ranks, to ensure orders get followed properly. If every PV2 was friends with eveything from SSGs to Majors, then it would fuck the military all up. By getting your ass chewed and getting taught through pain that people with more rank REQUIRE respect, it plants the seed.
I can tell, almost 2 years into my career, the difference between a soldier who went to Benning compared to anywhere else. There is a stiff attitude difference.
Agony & Misery are still there.
I want the ACU's
army guy here was wearing them with a tie-dye shirt the other day on campus. I know him, so I was like... 'why the fuck are you wearing your army shit out like that?" He looked all embarrassed because he knew it was wrong, but he said "everyone has their regular camo that they wear outside (fashion people) ... nobody has these yet, it's a fashion statement."
I gave him a weird look just carried on with what I was doing.
thats one situation where i would straight smack someone over the head
it's pointless. If I see a Marine I would do it, but only because we are sopposed to know better.
So are soldiers. Everyone knows you can't mix uniforms or wear the uniform with civilian attire.
