wow, CAP. i remember those days. I was like 14 and left when i was 16. I don't know exactly we were supposed to do but we went on all kinds of survival camps and did all kinds of cool shit. I was thinking abotu it the other day. I remember my favorite thing we did was when we did a gaurd (more of a standing around watchin g the real guys with big guns) of the SR71 blackbird that was at Boeing. (this was when i lived in seattle)
That stuff was fun. I guarded an f-15e for a night with my Squadron. That was allot of fun for a kid.
I was thinking about joining the CAP unit near here. They have a great deal on discounted flight training, and I could build up flight hours during S&R flights.
I was in for about a year, but only active for about 6 monthes.
We didn't do ANYTHING but go out and drill and go over other bullshit.
I was in scouts too, so I opted to spend my time in scouting doing stuff, instead of in CAP where I didn't do anything.
I got my Eagle in scouting btw.
I was in CAP for a year or two.. we did absolutely nothing except for weekly meetings. Our drill area was a big ball room and we had some offices in a balcony area. Our unit was pretty small, like only 5 or 6 kids that would show up and a couple adults.. I guess that could have had something to do with it. Was pretty disappointed in it all.
Did get my Eagle Scout award though.
