Are there any companys that are currently making AKs in .223?
Arsenal has them, theirs also SAIGAs and VEPRs in 5.56, seen NIB SAR3's on some forums.
I think AIM surplus use to have them. Not sure if they still do though...
Not trying to be an ass, but why would you want one? One of the benefits of the AK is the 7.62 round.
i used to see them all the time at Hoffmans in Newington, CT. try giving them a call and see if they will ship
4 and 5 are pretty nice deals, much better looking and better quality then the romy rifles, and less then an arsenal
7.62 is hard to find now and the price has really gone up. Plus if I can buy .223 in bulk and use it in more then one rifle.
Do you know if these mags or any high cap mags that work in a Saiga?
They should fit perhaps minor shaving/sanding to fit in, but if they work in rifles that take the regular bakelite mag's your good, saiga's accept the bakelite 5.45 mags you just need to change the followers in the mag's to 5.56 followers.
Yeah, that would be a good reason to get one. Its def getting costly to shoot 7.62, but isnt .223 getting hard to find as well? I cant seem to find it up here in montana (where im staying for a month) and its hella expensive. A 40rnd WWB pack is like 15 bucks here, whereas in Florida, its like 7.99.
They also take Galil mags if I remember right. Same deal you have to file down a part of the mags, but thats it.
And I'm still getting wolf .223 around here for 3.09 and 7.62 for 2.99 per boxes of 20.
Yeah galil mags can be made to work but better off with the ak74 mags or even steel weiger mags both are cheaper then the galil mags
almost bought a saiga ak in 7.62 at the gunshow the other day, then the guy told me it doesnt taken regular mags. its a damn shame, the gun was fucking beautiful and i dont think it had ever been fired.
That SAR-1 is tempting...
pretty easy to makem take regular ak mag's
the guy said it was kind of a pain in the ass.
Maybe I'll go next month and pick it up if it really isn't too complicated. it was only $280 with 1 mag
A little work with a dremel to do it
What on regular Ak mags needes to be modded? Anywere I can find bakelite mag's cheap online?
I read a bit more on the SAIGA 7.62's looks like they use slightly different feed ramps, you can either modify the feed ramps or use different followers in the regular ak mag's, I originally thought you just needed to shave a couple areas of the mag's. For mag's try the EE on arfcom, I haven't bought any bakelite mag's since I got my SAR2, back then you could get 4 used ones in a mag pouch for like $20 from centerfire and cdnn and brand new mags for $10, bought a shitload back then.
