Favorite movies of 2006 In this order... 1. The Last Kiss - A brutally realistic and refreshing look at relationships for the late 20something crowd convincingly showing the unpleasant side of love and commitment. 2. The Departed - The uglist movie you'll love with grittyness and nonstop throbbing action. 3. Borat - Funniest and most original comic act in a very long time. 4. Cars - Heartwarming film that teaches the value of community and loyalty with witty dialogue that adults can appreciate. 5. Clerks 2 - Funny as it was vulgar with, surprisingly, a lot of heart. 6. V for Vendetta - Great drama and action with political overtones appropriate to current events. 7. The Descent - Action packed film that terrifies without needing stuff to suddenly jump out to startle you or needing disgusting bloody special effects. 8. Thank You for Smoking - Thought-provoking political film that dares to offend to assert its point. 9. Mission Impossible 3 - Great nonstop action and storyline...if you can ignore Tom Cruise's offscreen antics. 10. Fearless - A perfectly choreographed martial arts film with an uplifting storyline. Honorable Mention - World Trade Center - The Prestige - Babel - Why We Fight ====================================== Worst movies of 2006 In this order... 1. Lady in the Water - M. Night Shyamalan had the audacity to cast himself onscreen as a Christ-like figure to save humanity in this utterly ridiculous film that makes absolutely no sense. 2. The Lake House - Chick-flick at its worse...lame barf-inducing story that doesn't try to make sense. 3. An American Haunting - Scares you only with ghosts suddenly and repeatedly popping out. 4. The Hills have Eyes - Bloodfest for the sake of grossing you out and nothing more. 5. The Sentinel - Film about a retarded guy -- but the actor does a horrible job pretending to be retarded...which makes this movie completely retarded.
