Thinking of getting my 20" barrel there.
I think a Model1Sales barrel is going to be towards the bottom of the heap in terms of quality.
I think it will still work, though.
I had one of their lower kits from a few years back and never had any problems. just curious. not like it has to be perfect. and the price is right (not to mention that their actually IN STOCK). really want a YHM one though
I wouldnt trust them.
My point of view on stuff like that is that a barrel is much more involved than an LPK.
As long as an LPK is made of steel and fits in your receiver....chances are, it's going to be fine.
I'm wondering myself about that company.
I have 2 DPMS lowers that I need to build up.
i built both of my uppers from kits from them.
the rule of thumb to follow on ar parts is that if it's in stock you don't want it
link to MANY complaints about quality of M1S parts, since it's the rule of thumb?
I've always heard negative stuff, but it's always more like internet stories ... never any personal accounts. Most of the rumors I heard were about parts showing premature wear (bolt, carrier, lugs, etc..) but I don't see how that is possible since they probably just contract out their parts from the same places everyone else does.
I've seen their stuff at gun shows (M1S is based about an hour from me so they are at all the local shows) and it all looked really good. No issues that I could see. I did have one friend buy a kit from them at a gun show to finish out his RRA lower... thousands of rounds later I haven't heard of any problems.
