I'm tired of Picasa's "refining".
~1 second refining on a 3.36ghz core2duo
It depends on what I want to do Most of the time for quick viewing/making sure everything is in focus, I use ACDSee9.. If I want to do quick editing, I use DPP from Canon... Otherwise it's either Lightroom or Photoshop.
microsoft raw viewer, or lightroom
Mine takes far less time than that and is a less powerful machine
large thumbnail view in finder then opening to preview for random crap, for anything thats come out of my SLRs i browse in lightroom.
bridge or photo mechanic. Lightroom is for amateurs, wedding/event photogs and homos.
How do you like Photo Mechanic? I keep getting the recommendations on it but can't decide on spending the money on it. I've been with bridge and ACR for awhile now and like it, but PM is supposed to be pretty good.
i dig it, really fast for what i'm using...I use it on a mac. I only use it to browse pictures and select a few. This is on a mac pro with 8 core whatever, 2 x 3ghz and 8 gigs of ram so nothing is really that slow...I detest how lightroom organizes photos, I want complete control not some bullshit folder system- I can't handle it and it slows me down and kills me...plus i have to pull shit off of/keep track of photos on 9 separate 1 tb drives. For most people lightroom should be killer, but I am too used to and too specific in how I work.
lightroom looks pretty, aperture looks pretty and is pretty
iview media pro and photomechanic are for the more hardcore... iview works better with large sets of files it seems..
Coming back from puerto rico we had like an ungodly amount of gwen stefani/ damien marley photos...the boss man went crazy with the mkIII. photomech handled it really nicely on the macbook thing, its new and has 2 gigs of ram so its not exactly a powerhouse.
Mixing leaf and canon files is like on anything I've used so far. half the time the leaf won't even preview, the other it will ... and these are converted already from uncompressed.
Aperture, I'm kinda depressed with aperture's 10000 images per thing.
because I use:
>>> Specific Events (if need be)
I like it much better than lightroom 1.1....
aperture is the picasa of the pro world
damn should've told me you were visiting
Id really like to meet some of the OT photo crew
anyways on the subject, I guess im homo cause I use picasa/lightroom and im very surprised you find picasa slow, its faster than lightroom for me
I open the folder in Vista, have it set to large or extra large icons Double click them and hit the right/left arrows.
link to bridge?
