I took these for a friend (his tank) and thought they came out well. I only shopped two of these because I WAY overexposed them.
All of the shots of the corals/anemones are very good, I'm not sure where you were going with the top half of the tang though.
I actually thought I may turn that into a new "You gunna get raped" lolfish... that's about it.
I think they're colorful!
I dunno if its my work monitor, but the last 3 could be brightened up.
The lighting in the tank is really odd, and while those things look like they are stable they move like crazy so I had to keep the speed fast... I tried lightening them in Lightroom but it seemed to remove some of the "pop" that the pictures have now so I left them alone.
these were taken with a 28-135 btw. If I got a 50mm f1.4 I could get them to lighten up a bit, but the wife won't let me spend the monies (although I really shouldn't anyway, so it's not completely her fault)
Aquarium shots are WAY harder than one would expect. Actinic lights make things a lot more difficult as well because our eyes don't pick them up but they're necessary for reef tanks.
I find myself filling my 1gig SD card(with my cheap P&S camera) and coming away with 2-5 decent shots that I like. Most of the time they're pure luck, although I'm sure some nicer equipment would help that out a bit, manual focus would help a lot.
