What happened to German quality and engineering?

    I hear the new E60 BMW, C-Class Mercedes, E-Class Mercedes, Bangled 7-series, VWAG products etc. all have fucking issues. Electrical, mostly? And they're expensive to fix??

    What happened to good, solid German engineering and quality? The E36 3ers are built like fucking tanks. The old 5 series too. I still see W124 and W125 E-classes rolling around....

    Is the the Chevy-fication of Germany?? :eek3:

    My 98 M3 hasn't had any serious issues.

    I'm just going by what I hear around here. If it's not BRAND-NEW and FULLY warrantied, German cars are, evidently, shit.

    I've enjoyed my two German cars and I've had to put up with a few trips to the dealer over SRS and ESP system codes. Shit happens. It was irritating but now enough to keep me from being glad I got the cars.

    My 03 GTI hasn't had any issues :dunno:

    But as to BMW - they've been increasing sales and production every year, so that may explain a drop in quality.

    my dad had a 750 in like 91 or 92 and the v12 had so many issue he sold it a year later. He's driven amercan ever since. My mom got a 08 535xi and after 19k the fuel pump died three times and they lemonlawed it and she now has a even more equipped 09 535xi
