But can still get over 130db by itself
that is install dependant, there are plenty of subs that can produce well in the 130's in a decent install
But im talking about a really high end sub... Like something from a sound quality company, how are focal subs?
I'm curious as well. I'm looking into replacing my 5 ugh year old 2xfosgate 10's with either 2 more 10's or a single 12. What do most people usually suggest in the 400 watt range?
I usually suggest Alpine Type R in the 400w range, but im curious what else is out there in the high end department
Yeah, I was lookin at those earlier. Gonna have to find a review or two and check em out.
What amplifier will you be powering it with?
Me or him? I dont know what I would power mine with, im not sure what equipment I would use, im happy with what Ive got right now. And im currently using a rockford [email protected] amp for my 12" Type R
Type R /= high end. They're more midrange
the list goes on....
IDMax wins this thread. Though 130 is obtainable with plenty of other ones. Perhaps even one of my beloved Bostons if I had some power. Maybe.
Its all in the install.
no budget limit, I just want to know the best sub for sound quality.
oh and since nobody has said it
130db for any longer than a minute or 2 is gonna jack ur hearing up hardcore, realistically u dont need anything louder than 115-120 at the most, even around 100db is going to feel "loud"
being into music/audio and fucking up your ears FTL
Though highs damage must faster and more profoundly than sub-bass.
Either way, this is exactly why I'm over the monster system.
i watched a guy take a memphis mojo (or lvs, i don't recall which right now) up to 152.3 dB single 15" in a ported box. it was loud. don't know about the SQ of it tho. and if i'm correct, 130+ is now acheived with ported boxes, right? i know that my 2 RF XLC 8's will do a 134 on AudioControl HiSPL sensor. but mine are also ported in 2.5 cubes.
we just got out AC rta in.. good fun
Yeah no shit, My normal "really loud" listening volume clocked in at 122... "Normal" volume was 100 I think.
I only said 130, so in my extremely expensive system if I wanted to turn it the fuck up, it could take it... Apparantly my single type R hit 147 I dunno, it sounds good but maybe I dont really know what GOOD is... but ive definately heard some bad systems, not pointing any fingers at sony or anything here
i really doubt you hit 147 with a single type r.... i'm not saying its impossible, but that will take a lot of time and design, its not something that just happens.
I think you're a fucking joke. That's just my simple observation.
Thats why I said apparantly, I didnt know much about the numbers at the time, but there was this parking lot where like 50 people came together for this spl test, and thats the number they told me. Maybe theyre fucking idiots I dont know, but thats the number that was GIVEN TO ME. I havent gone to any other tests or anything, but what the fuck do you want me to say? I posted in here about why my sub was louder than it should be, and you guys gave me shit about that already. WHAT THE FUCK, maybe it does hit 147, but I thought they were a 135 or something. But on the same fucking meter this guy in a tercel had 2 12" type R's and it didnt get as loud as mine of 500w.... It was a sony amp, [email protected] I believe. I run the same power into 1 sub
who gives a fuck ?
