I know he's nationalistically brazillian but he looks half japanese or something. I know this should be obvious but I don't know about his background.

Not sure, but my gf yelled out that she thinks he has fetal alcohol syndrome. I am now convinced he does.

yeah I thought it was obvious by the name. There was a huge immigration of Japanese people to Brazil through out the years. I think outside of japan the country with the biggest Japanese population is Brazil. His family is one of those family's that migrated over. Many martial artists migrated when they had the ban on martial arts. I know the man that trained the gracies was one of them.

Thats how brazil was introduced to jiu jitzu. One of Jigoro Kanos students and the founder of kosen judo came over to brazil and taught the gracies. Thats why I always laugh when they call it gracie jiu jitzu because its just kosen judo.

80 years ago it was kosen judo. It's evolved way past that now.

not really, same techniques same approaches. the only thing different is the name. The gracies didnt change much if anything.

if you see two grappler's rolling one does bjj and one does kosen judo your not going to be able to tell the difference so stop jock riding. The gracies didnt reinvent grappeling all of the concepts that they teach and things that they practice are nothing new. All of there techniques are things that have been refined and trained hundreads of years before konde koma set foot in brazil.

same submitions, set ups and I bet if I said it was a jiu jitzu video you wouldnt know the difference
