Godaddy offered me a good deal but I read horrible reviews about them.

Every web hosting company I've read reviews for has horrible reviews.

    What does OT recommend?

. and also, depends on how long the company has been around. if they have been around awhile there will of course be bad reviews.

    my recs are:

    - liquidweb (for dedicated. great support if you dont know what youre doing, cost more than some competitors though)
    - hostgator (for shared accounts and small websites)

Their website looks good. Their service looks comparable to godaddy's. Is their customer service good?

edit - nevermind, they were showing the 3 year price. Sneaky bastards.

if i registered a domain with godaddy is it easy to use another web hosting service? It's cheaper to register with godaddy.

i don't know how this stuff works.

yes it's just a matter of changing nameservers. when you sign up for hosting they'll give you a couple nameservers that you will have to point your domain to

    . again.

its good to have your domain hosted somewhere else (godaddy is preferred choice for a lot of people)

Reason is because if your hosting provider screws you over, they can't hold your domain name hostage (until you pay for bogus fees for example). Instead, you can go "fuck you" to them and get a new hosting provider, tell godaddy where to point your domain to. Bam! you're back online in no time.

Ok guys I have one more question:

In the near future I'm going to have a few more sites.

I see that some of hostgators packages include "unlimited domains." Does that mean I can use that package to host the code for multiple domains? (as opposed to having to keep buying new hosting packages for each new domain?)

Yea, anything above the hatchling plan would allow you to do that.

Sounds like I should do that, then. Since I'm gonna have multiple sites.
