Taking a poll for class.
Fav. Type of Music, Fav. Group/CD
hardcore/indie/screamo/post-hardcore/emo/punk/straight-edge/pop-punk/metalcore................ you get the drift
Rock, softer stuff and progressive rock mostly.
Radiohead, Modest Mouse, Porcupine Tree, Travis, The Verve, Tragically Hip, The Smiths, Switchfoot, Pedro The Lion, Hell Is For Heroes, Tool, The Mars Volta, Death Cab For Cutie, Celldweller, Bright Eyes, A Perfect Circle.
Rock/Pop/Alternative to be general, some in each I like and some I don't, I haven't had time to search out anything other than what I hear on the radio lately.
Dave Matthews, Matchbox Twenty, Finger 11, Coldplay, Maroon 5
Drum And Bass!!!!!!!!
uhhh im stuck. im a big fan of the punk/emo scene but also of techno/trance..... fave groups and cd though is something corporate/leaving through the window annnnd dj encore/intuition
Hardcore / Hardstyle / Techno
I can't narrow it down to a single genre.
Hardcore, metalcore, metal, hip-hop, blues, classic rock, orchestra style, rockabilly, psychobilly. Ugh, there's too many names for what should just be called music.
Melodeath/Melodic Death Metal
pretty much all types of metal except for some death metal and nu-metal, I only like a couple of nu metal bands.
I also like Rock, Blues, etc.
chopped and screwed.
wtf is the difference between all that metal music like power metal death metal etc.?
i.e. Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, DMB, John Mayer, Jason Mraz......
I think its easier to explain with examples, if you're really really interested in knowing the difference, waste 20 minutes downloading a song by these bands:
Death - Nile
Power metal - Iced Earth
Thrash - Napalm Death (well, some of their stuff is)
Black - Opeth
Nu Metal - Chimaira
Metalcore - As I lay dying, Unearth (probably a better example)
Hardcore - Himsa, with honor, etc
I would call stuff like Pantera or early Metallica just straight metal.
I like Progressive House & Progressive Trance. 126-136bpm
Very good examples. Although Nile is more Egyptcore
Dont forget about Grindcore. Bands like early Cryptopsy, Pig Destroyer, Nasum, Origin. There are other more technical types of hardcore like Luddite Clone and Dillinger Escape Plan.
In actuality, a very good band (read: original/unique) is not able to be classified.
So screw genres, listen to what you like!
The Shins, Cursive, The Mars Volta, Zeppelin, The Doors, The Beatles, The Smiths, At The Drive-In, Dandy Warhols, THe Stills, Social D, the Von bondies, Franz Ferdinand, Against Me!, The Incredible Moses Leroy, THe (international) noise conspiracy. BLAH
Classic Rock, most notably Queen and The Rolling Stones
Rock and Metal
cky, In Flames, Kiss, Nirvana, Metallica
Switchfoot, really? They are terrible, imo
Man, I can't go with one genre...I listen to them all. Hip Hop, trance, emo, metal...everything. Right now, most listened to is Atmosphere, CKY, Paul Van Dyke Live sets, Coheed and Cambria, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Fire Kills, Dilated Peoples, Old Metallica, The Jetsuns...so yeah, I can appreciate anything good.
I used to hate them, then I started listening to their catchier songs and now i'm a fan.
I admit that they're shit, but I still like the music.
I'm a metalhead.
Currently loving Neuraxis, Cephalic carnage, Sikth, DEP, Eyehategod, Cryptopsy and The Locust
