Assuming volume = sets/reps, I thought lower volume was for strength and higher volume for weight loss?

Lower volume - 3-4 sets of 6-8 reps
Higher volume - 3-4 sets of 10-14 reps

    ??

I read it wrong.. actually says 8-12 is for growth, not strength. 12-15 reps for conditioning.

It doesn't really matter what kind of routine you do, cutting is a function of diet.

As far as routine changes, you should typically up your cardio. Everything else is diet. Heavy training + cardio = lots of calories spent.
