are any of them on the cheaper side?
i prefer roast beef.
Go to costco and get Top Round. It is real cheap.
sirloin and flank are my fav... followed by strip and roast beast
top sirloin and top round are pretty lean
eye of round
london broil's pretty lean and is a better cut of top round. top round is more of a breakfast steak.
filet, sirloin, top round
eye of round is the leanest but anything with round or loin is also very lean.
I had stuffed flank steaks for dinner this past thursday. My dad's made friends with a butcher at a local dominicks and she marks everything way down for him.
top round + sitting in a bath of my kickass marinade all day long = win
(that was memorial day dinner)
Anything with the word loin in it will be lean.
Actually most red meat is very low in saturated fat. Plus you can trim a lot of the fat off before cooking it. I know when smoking a brisket I try and trim the inch fat cap down to a 1/4 inch or so. Cook it fatside down for about 12 hours and the fat disappears.
Of course realize with red meat you do want mabling of the meat which helps prevent the meat from drying up.
