preferably with HD video
Probally going to get flamed for this, but Fuji F80 EXR. I have sold s ton of these things at work and people love them. 10x Optical Zoom, 10MP EXR (decent in low light) sensor, and the thing is solid. I also sold tons of the F70 EXR too. Retail you should be able to find one ~$275 retail.
panasonic lumix dmc-zs7 (12x)
canon powershot sx20 (20x)
Canon S90 if you didnt care for HD video
Also a great choice. Heck of a camera, very solid and the GPS is cool too! A little too big to fit in the average pocket though IMO. The lens sticks out a good 1/3" even when the camera is off.
3.8x zoom FTL.
The Lumix superzoom series is good. I've had an FZ5 for years and it's a great little camera. The newer ones are only better.
Canon SX120, but no HD video
i already got a s90 and the zoom isn't that great
this is what i'm looking at and i think it's the best one out there right now... except it doesn't have any manual modes i think.
any comments on those Kodak Easyshares ? they're pretty cheap.
There's a reason--they're shit.

Oh. I dont think i ever maxed out my zoom. Lol.
There isn't a smilie great enough to stress how true this is. Stay far far far away from Kodak digital anything.
