ART What's my next lens purchase?

I have a Canon 60d and I use it mainly for video. I have a 50mm 1.4, tokina 11-16, and the kit 18-135. I feel like I'm lacking great depth of field in broad daylight zoomed in on subjects. So my 18-135 just doesn't cut it. So my question is what should I get next?

and if you MUST buy a lens, the Rokinon 85mm 1.4 is awesome. and it's only ~$260. Manual focus only, which is perfect for video.

Oh i like.

for video?

get a neutral density filter. most important thing in any videographer's bag.

you have all focal lengths covered from ultra wide to tele. you don't need any other lenses. 1080p cant resolve the full resolution of even crappy lenses.

buy one of these and some step down/up rings as you need.

70-200 2.8 IS
or upgrade that shit kit lens to a 2.8 lens

Zooms...not so nice for video work. Part of the reason why I'm switching over to almost primes exclusively.

Unless you have 2 robust follow focus units like the arri/zacuto units.......and 2 people to operate them.

srsly though, ND filter, just get whatever you need for your largest lens and step it down/up if necessary. i have a 77MM that i use on all my stuff, which happens to all be 77mm threaded save my 35L, where i use a 77 >72 step down.

sounds like you have everything to start making a movie, so get out and shoot :o

if you dont already have good audio gear....good sound is more important that good video ;)

a field recorder like the H1, H2 or the H4n is perfect, don't necessarily need a boom until later, just get some cheap lavs or turn down the levels on the H1/2/4 so it doesnt pick up too much.

i use pluraleyes in Premiere to sync all my clips/audio automagically.

I have the same camera +50mm 1.4 and also I'm planing to buy some wide lens, what can you say about tokina 11-16, it's good enough for video capturing?

Best option for uwa on crop.

I have a Tamron 10-24 and it's only useful outdoors past f/8. Indoors at 3.5-5.6 it's really soft.

Cool, so I guess I should start collect money for it!)
Cause I tryed to shoot with my 50mm lens and just I realized, that it's too tight for crop camera, it'll probably useful only for beauty shots.
