what makes you think theres something bad about them?
nothing, i do them at the end of my chest routine. people need to stop bandwagonning over here, theres some powerlifters that probably dont need them, however i feel it works my chest very good when i really focus on stretching and holding out the muscle with average wight.

They hurt my elbows?
They are pretty good. Just don't rely on them entirely
they work prefectly fine for pc to pc data transfers for me anyway

I heard something about it's bad for your sternum? is that true or no? But i dont think that's true.
I throw them in once every 2 or 3 weeks just to hit my chest harder sometimes. They are kinda weak compared to DB flies though.
If you had the choice of either cable crossovers or DB flys, which would you do?

I do them at the end of my routine, although sometime I mix it up and do cable crossUNDERS, which are good too.
