What's the biggest mistake girls make, when trying to lose weight?
Going on some funky diet without doing any exercise
asking a webforum for advice.
probably just trying to starve themselves..not eating the right foods etc.
Not lifting weights for fear of bulking up.
Combine these two and you have a Superb Answer.
believing any bullshit 'diet' from magazine articles
I would agree, not eating enough or a big thing i'm seeing that a lot of girls do is take up smoking to help suppress their appetite.
plus cardio machines.
Girls think dieting means eating only wierd shit for a week instead of reducing calories below maintenance.
forgetting to eat
like that saying..."you live to eat"
I mean, "YOU eat to live"
they go nuts on all the cardio machines.
and that would be a mistake? why?
i meant combined with starving themselves and not eating right.
edit - heck, some girls i know won't even drink water cos they don't wanna gain the 'weight they lost' while on the machines.
well if you burn enough LBM then your metabolism is going to go to shit making it even harder to lose weight.
Sorry i am a noob, what's LBM?
How much cardio should I be doing then?
I have this conversation with girl-friends often. They're either...
- too scared of the free weights because they don't want to get "bulky"
- do light cardio only
actually. I think the big mistake is paying too much attention to their actual bodyweight.
I am not affraid to use weights and I trying to do 40min cardio sessions. I don't want to make silly mistakes that could be avoided. I also don't want to bust my arse for nothing and make all my hard work go to waste.
i feel like you're already an example of what's wrong with most people trying to "lose weight" in this thread alone. Except for your last post here, you've ignored everything except when it related to doing cardio which you were presumably already doing. What i mean is, you're only hearing what you are already inclined to hear.
The first biggest mistake girls have with "losing weight" is that they're concerned with losing weight when what they should be concerned with is getting a better body composition and/or body size, which may or may not equate with a lower scale weight.
The second is not counting calories and going on a diet (as mentioned previously) that has more to do with specific things they think are bad or aren't bad and they eat or don't eat based on that, with no care for how many total calories they're consuming. A great example of this is the fact that you'll see girls go buy ground turkey at the grocery and eat the fuck out of that, when they could get 95 or 96% lean ground beef and probably enjoy it a lot more, eat less and still be satisfied, and spend less money while getting a very similar macronutrient profile (not the extra lean ground turkey, that shit is like 99% lean). READ THE NUTRITION FACTS.
The third is not lifting weights, which is arguably more important than cardio.
Girls buying ground turkey? where is this? Most girls I know diet on rice cakes and salad and other disgusting shite.
not using wieghts because they "dont wanna get big muscles"
