Whats your excuse for not squatting and deadlifting?

    With a slew of great individual performances at this year's SPF Powerlifting and Bench Press National Championships, it might be hard to pick just one as the most impressive. Dana Shealy's squat of 365 pounds and deadlift of 315 pounds is one of those that surely should be in the discussion.


    You see, Shealy had her foot severed in an automobile accident several years ago. Last year, she had her left leg amputated. In addition, she recently had back surgery. Oh yeah, and Shealy is a cancer survivor.

    I was going to write a smart ass excuse as to why i don't squat and dead but that shit humbled me and put me in my place. Inspiring.

    That's an awfully trying life that girl has had. Her ability to rise up over adversity is inspiring.

    I squat and deadlift this does not apply to me. I don't squat heavy anymore though. Excuse = I'm a pussy.

    I don't really like squatting so I don't do it. HA HA HA. Seriously.

    No I do but not really. Sort of. Sometimes. I do like to deadlift but not in a commercial gym.

    Plus it doesn't seem to help me anymore. Back size and quad size exactly the same having not DL'd in over a year.

    cool video though, shit like that used to fire me up. Doesn't seem to anymore. I'm turning into a bromo.

    left hand goes completely numb after squatting. it lasts a day or two until its gone. anyone know why? :dunno:

    Because the neck pad at my gym isn't cushy enough and the bar hurts my neck. And I don't deadlift because I pick my puppy-wuppy up off the ground and she's pretty heavy so that's pretty much deadlifting.

    I get stares with the "excuse wtf are you doing" looks. I'm really self conscious while at the gym.

    Completely degenerated L5 with L5 disc bulge which caused a pinched nerve at the S1 nerve root. Doc said absolutely no axial loading of any kind. I still do light front squats regardless but my legs have been fucking shrinking. Squatting used to be my bread and butter :wtc:

    Only area I've noticed size decrease is the "tear drop" area. But I'm fat so I don't really have a tear drop, more like a butter drip. I am going to start deadlifting again though since I actually like deadlifting.

    I've tried everything, heavy lunges/bulgarian squats/high rep light front squats...nothing works like heavy ass to grass squats did, I have been slowly losing weight and changed nothing with my diet and I feel like my legs are smaller. Could be somewhat in my head but it freaks me out.
