I really need a new scheme for mine. In for suggestions.
e:\pictures\yyyy\mm-dd short description
c:\pictures\YYYY_MM_DD Event description
x:\pics\YYYY\MM\MMDDYYYY - Description\
I have the YYYY (2009 the current) for the regular weekly stuff/activities
I have a Travel folder where I put the travel sets
And a Stuff & Random where I have pictures of random stuff (the condo, etc) with subfolders for animals and vehicules.

Stuff & Random\Name
Stuff & Random\Animals\Name
Stuff & Random\Vehicules\YYYY Model

I have my external HDD to always have Z letter so when I plug it in, it always matches in Lightroom.. and I can easily transfer the 2009 sets there when 2010 comes.
My flickr collection is very close to my actual computer LR setup
Where can i get lightroom?
Post KITTAH pix!
i just reorganized my stuff and now I want to add a year folder before all the other folders. When I try to add that folder, it wants to re-import all that stuff. How do I just add the year folder then tell Lightroom where the libraries are that are already imported?
say it photos/nature/2009 and you want it photos/2009/nature
you can drag and drop to move, or right click, create folder inside of xxx folder, then drag and drop the stuff into that.
you can also right click and manually locate folder.
My current folder structure in Finder is Year/mm.dd Description. In lightroom, I just have mm.dd Description. I want to change the LR scheme to be just like the Finder scheme, but when I try to add a folder it wants to import all the photos in every directory in that folder.
How can I get the year folder to show in LR with the proper folders for that year inside it without having to import everything in the 2009 folder?
right click on the month, select add containing folder
