budget is under $1,000 USD.

option 1:

49" 32:9 super-ultrawide QHD display. (Esentially 2 27" QHD monitors side by side with no bezel in the middle)

$1199

option 2:

27" 4K display. With the potential of later adding two more 4k displays in a 3 monitor stand. assuming there will be hardware available to run such a setup.

$328
option 3:

3x 27" QHD monitors in a 3 monitor setup. will have more display width than the super-ultrawide but with bezels and will cost more.

plus

$845

What would you do? This setup will primarily be used for playing MS Flight Simulator 2020

go ahead throw that lone 27" 4k in the garbage.

I can't say for flight sims, but racing sims a few people I watch are switching from ultra wide to triples. They just enjoy that much more than ultrawide.

yeah i gotta say, that is where I am leaning... and the bezels will just look like the supports between the windows when in cockpit mode. from an outside camera though.. :hs:

ps i'm planning a new computer build around a rtx3080 to run this, i know MS FS is a bitch for any system but i'm hoping to achieve at least 30-50FPS on ultra settings.

I suppose option 4 could be 3x 1080p displays but really....ugh
I still have 3x 25.5” at 1920x1200 (fuck 1080p), May have to rig em back up for sim racing, would be a huge pita having to swap cables for my UWs to the triple setup.

also like surround less than eyefinity :greddy:

The lack of height on an ultrawide kills me. If you don't need the vertical space the Dell u3818dw is probably a good choice.

@Sean6293 is our area mapped out in MS Flight Simulator? Can I crash a Cessna into my house?
and yes there are high quality maps of our area. the 3d part is all a weird engine that takes the 2d map data and replicates it into 3d, but i've been very impressed so far.

throw me a Long x LAT and i'll fly to your area from stewart.

I can see how for sims a triple screen setup works better; the curvature of most super ultra wides isn’t enough for something like a car/cockpit
