den avr 1804.
That depends on what you need it to do. Are you just setting up a basic home theater? Do you have any special needs such as component video switching, etc?
its a slow process to setting up a basic home theatre, I am going to buy the speakers I need at some point after I get this for xmas hopefully. And will be plugging the tv, xbox ps2 and dvd player into it. But hopefully by spring I can afford a projector..
basically im looking for the best receiver I can get for at or under 300
Well, in that case, you will probably want a reciever that has 2 sets of component video switching on it. Unless the projector you are going to get has more than 3 inputs. The problem with that though, is you have to spend like 1000 dollars to get a receiver that offers 3 sets of component video switching. Another option is you could run the PS2 off of s-video or something
yeah, I could care less if I had to run the ps2 off of svideo, in fact I think its set up as s video at the moment
plus I dont really mind unplugging shit if I have to
hmm I can get this sony str-de695 for 229.99 http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INT...FiReceivers&DCMP=PRICEGRABBER_DF&HQS=STRDE695 is it decent? especially for the price
edit: looked into it, supposedly doesnt put out much power at all
How about the HK avr225?
cheap ones to check out
Nakamichi AV-10 (look used)
I'm looking at just a 2 channel preamp/ amp integrated, and i'm looking around $1000-1500 but i've checked out all those receivers in the past and they were decent..
I own a Nak AV-8 I got for $300 used 2 years ago, and it's been awesome for the price... beats the $1000 denon at the time.... The only denon i can stand is the pma-2000ivr... decent but a tad overpriced.
Always been a huge fan of Denon, never left me unsatisfied.
Def go with the onk 501. Big dollar sound without spending big dollars. You can get it new for under $300 or do like most people do that get it and go to ecost.com and get a factory refurb for $189. That's what I did and it looks brand spankin new.
There's a site too... not sure which it is... that right now if you order the denon 1803.. they automatically upgrade it to the 1804 cuz they r out of stock of the 1803.
But go with the onkyo. You will not be disappointed.
I think right now I have the choice between getting that onk 501 and putting a speaker system togther with 120 bucks and my own money. Or I could just get this system here, which looks pretty decent for 330.
Heres a pic of it
That doesn't look bad. It all depends on what you want. You will get better quality of you buy other speakers and not a HTIB.
You can hook all that stuff up to the onk 501. With either component video, S-video or composite video. I have my tv, vcr, dvd player, ps2 and computer all hooked up to mine.
yeah I ended up goin with that, will be just fine for my needs, atleast for now..much much better then listening through my logitech z640s
