Lol. Saw the noti in my inbox. Candle layaway ftw. 75 bucks is cray. I love their sweats, but a candle...GTFO.

I make and sell candles online and have a pretty good handle on the costs. Some expensive/higher-end candles justify their price tag pretty well ("min" brand candles use really nice containers made from english bone china, for instance, which justifies the 100 dollar price tag)

but this looks pretty straightforward:

  • 6.7oz / 190g
  • 50-60 hours burn time
  • Monogram silkscreen print
  • Recycled/recyclable glass
  • Cotton wick
  • Made in USA
  • Ingredients: Soy Wax Blend / Fragrance Oils / Essential Oils
  • Style: RC-7267

7oz container probably costs them around a dollar or two per
cotton wick is maybe 5 cents tops
rest of the packaging is unremarkable. rounding up to 2 dollars for the sake of argument
fragrance oils are dirtass cheap, essential oils are more costly but are usually used in token amounts for marketing purposes. dollar or two here
another dollar for shipping containers/labels/misc

you're looking at like 6-7 dollars all-in to create this candle.. it really should be retailing closer to 25-30 dollars :o maybe 40 if they wanna lean on their upmarket branding cache

75 is crazy overpriced :o
