they also make this:
(no mention of the flashlight gun)
That's actually pretty cool.
now if you're carrying the minimag in your pocked do you need ccw license?
that belt fed upper mated with a registered auto sear in the proper lower would be pure happiness
We occasionally receive requests for information regarding a product formerly manufactured by Ares Defense Systems. The Companion product has not been produced in 6-7 years. Very few were ever manufactured; all were registered with BATF as "AOW" (Any Other Weapon) per NFA guidelines and all were transfered with ATF approval to Federally licensed dealers possessing a Special Occupational Tax stamp. We do not manufacture, advertise, sell or support this product.
I'll take the Shrike, fuck the Mag Lite.
If it weren't 5k & a supposed 1 year wait, I'd be all over it. Hell, it's mostly the wait that is stopping me.
well, if you want a belt fed .22/.17HM2, http://lakesideguns.com/ has them. And truthfully, I think that would be more fun then a 5.56 belt fed (of course, I would take either)
PKM is cheaper and ammo is cheaper.
They've been hyping the Shrike for years now, are they actually producing yet?
THIS WEAPON CAN BE PURCHASED ON THE INTERNET.
I know several people on arfcom preordered, dont know if anyones actually gotten theres yet, I think a couple people did. I would love one but waaay to damn pricey for just an upper.. I already ordered my Hungarian PKM parts kit now I just gotta wait till it comes and for the reciever to come out
7.62x54r belt fed goodness
Holy shit, I imagine those maglite shotguns can't be more than a few hundred bucks... i'd definitely buy one if someone knows where to get one.
DAMNIT THAT. i have a flashlight and a gun fetish..this was perfect and my g/f actually wanted to support my firearm habit
thats pretty cool actually. Id love to shoot it just to see how it is.
Aww too bad they dont make the flashlight guns anymore
Robert Silvers of silencertests.com has one
This system is the ONLY reason I'd ever want an AR. Otherwise, I'd probably look at a PKM.
http://www.ammunitionstore.com has romanian ones for $1100, I think I saw rommy ones somewhere else for $999, I paid a bit more but I ordered a hungarian one with spare barrel and some other spares were also included.. Waiting on the semi reciever to go on sale now.
I'll ask Rob how he likes his when I see him this coming weekend.
So far, though, Ares has not released a production model of which they are capable of manufacturing in any quantity compared to what was initially ordered by folks. Basically, they've been sending one or two out here or there in the last year or so, but only to people who are very high-profile on the boards and other firearm discussion venues. In this manner, it APPEARS outwardly that they are shipping them, since all these big names on the boards are posting that they've gotten theirs. It's bullshit. Ares is also "working" on a drop-in piston-driven AR upgrade. Supposedly, that was "supposed" to be out months ago. I even saw pictures of tons of bolt carrier groups and pistons set out to be sent to finishing. They made it seem like they were going out in a week or so. Haven't heard anything since. They also made it seem like they never took money for a product that didn't exist yet.
They DID say that they weren't accepting money for any of the drop-in systems until they were ready to send out the door. Not sure if I believe that. All they're doing is stalling on the failed Shrike. Not only can they not manufacture it in a timely manner, there is no way that they could possibly manufacture spare parts for it in any significant fashion. Who the fuck wants a belt-fed upper that you can't get parts for? Then you could just buy a Ciener belt-fed upper, because those actually WORK, they're just not made anymore, and neither are the parts. The problem with the Shrike, from what I've gathered, is that they're a pain in the ass to make, and that they take a lot of finicking with in order to run reliably. It's a lot of labor-intensive, one-by-one manufacturing, not a replaceable-parts, assembly-line type of process. This is what's killing the Shrike.
Also, Ares is run by a bunch of liars and cheats.
hey squid, Im looking at getting the Romy AK kit from ammunitionstore.com, am I safe in doing this? It seems like they have the best condition kits, but Im not sure about the quality (never bought from them, and never had an AK before)
As long as the barrels are in good shape should be fine, I've not ordered any kits from them before but they seem like a decent outfit.
ok, well, it says excellent condition, so.....
Ah screw it, Ill get the kit over the summer and let you guys know.
