HSV Coupe4!!! AWD LS1 POWER!!!
You mean the GTO?
that would be a car worth buying!
Yeah, based off of the Monaro (GTO), basically just a revised front fascia, new fender flares, revised rear bumper, bitchin' suspension and brakes, AWD, and an LS2!
This is what GM can do with the GTO if they decide to let Holden actually design a car for the US market. Who wouldn't buy one of these if Pontiac marketed it correctly with a 40-45K sticker (other than people who can't afford it).
hsv only make these with the 5.7lt LS1
and it doesnt come with the hood flares
Thats part of the problem with the GTO. Pontiac priced it too high and now they sit languishing on showroom floors while Mustangs and Chargers sell like crack in Detroit.
Hmm, I may have made a mistake with the engine, trying to look it up now.
I don't think it was the price. Frankly I think it was the fact that it is not made in the US at all, so the powers that be are keeping the man down.
Top Gear happens to have a stiffy for the Monaro, and everyone I have allowed to sit in this beast thinks it is the sexiest interior they have seen in a long time (and of course it performs damn well).
But to each his own.
The point of the thread was to show you some of the cool stuff Holden is doing with the GTO (Monaro) platform.
awd = boring I like the reg GTO and would consider buying one if I was in the market.
theres only 1 car with a manual transmission in all of australia
America is not averse to imported cars. The Pontiac Vibe sold reasonably well being made by Toyota.
The GTO was simply priced too high for its market. I'll bet GM wouldn't have been able to import them fast enough if they would've priced it nearer to Mustang range.
Its a great car, its just marketed to the wrong crowd.
Okay, it is the 5.7L LS1, but I am going to bet that whoever buys this car is willing to throw on some Long Tubes and a cam.
But, sorry for the misinformation.
yet its priced well below what it sells for here
Considering I got my LS1 GTO for 26,500, I would say I made out well.
Especially since I have only added about 3K in mods and will be running 13.1/2 come spring.
you can thank the UAW for keeping them out by putting trade restrictions on Holden.
that's a fucking sexy vehicle
That's a sexy bitch!
lets quote all the pictars because we didnt see them in the first post
Pontiac needs to pay attention to shit like this.
We don't need a redesigned GTO to look like a retro piece of shit, we just need them to sell cars like this.
Because americans want everything for free.
Pontiac made an attempt to actually be the "performance" division again by importing the Holden Monaro. They realized the Monaro ws a bitchin car and figured that its performance would more than make up for the looks. But of course they underestimated the American urge for something sexy and cheap that is built like a piece of shit.
American philosophy, make it look fast and keep it cheap.
In the end the GTO is one of the most well built cars being sold in the US right now. And I can personally attest to the fact that people actually like the looks, both inside and out.
