Maturity. We know this. But it's not everything. Surely there must be other reasons as well.

A female perspective here would be appreciated.

I have always dated 3-5 years older and I've never really thought of a reason why. Sometimes it isn't even the maturity..

But, I think the reason why I can't date guys a few years younger than me is because I have a brother who is 2 years younger than me, and I associate that age group with him. :dunno:

I have always been physically attracted to older guys, even when I was really young. They also make me feel safer(?), they can generally provide for me better, they might be more confident, etc. I like guys who have their own lives… their own interests, their own stuff, their own views… in college I meet a lot of guys who say what they think everyone wants to hear (or they’re just full of shit)…

Smallest age difference for me has been ~3 years, largest has been ~11 years

Maybe the 43 year old was just because he'd shower me with gifts like everyday, but the current 32, I make more money than him, lol.

He was my cousin's baseball coach, lol. He took the team to an Angel's game and my cousin's dad/mom aren't in his life so I volunteered to go with him :). Anyway, the coach was flirting with me right away and he got my number under the guise of "need to contact you incase we get seperated during the game."

i'm not even sure why. i've always had difficulty dating a guy my own age. i never really thought about it because older guys started approaching me in high school. not to be a gold digger but guy with car > guy without car?

isn't there that thing where females mature a few years faster than males? but i suppose we're all on even ground now. i could date a guy my age if he wasn't so ridiculous. just haven't met one yet. currently happy with my SO and he's only a year older :dunno:

I agree with the brother thing. i would feel like I'm dating their "friend"
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Old dude's got some game I guess.

I won't date anyone under 21, even though i don't really drink, I still go out to places that are 21+ and having your SO be under that puts a damper on things.

    wait for it

    wait for it

    wait for it...

    Yes!

    Also

My psycho ex was like that. Well, it could have been a coincidence, but she dated older guys (not me, I was younger, lol) and she also had daddy issues.

Women have babies. Their eggs don't last forever. If they're going to have babies, for their health and the health of their babies, they need to have them by a certain age.

Men constantly regenerate their reproductive cells. They can get women pregnant at any age. They also usually end up paying for them, so it's in their best interest to wait until they can afford to do so.

Hence, men like women who have fresh eggs, and women like men who have established themselves in life. We may manufacture conscious rationalizations from time to time, but that's the basic reason.

Probably the same reason why some men like older women... they know what they want and have experience!

His logic does follow if you look at it from the "prime biologic directive" perspective -- that people are sexually attracted to others on a primal level solely for reproductive purposes.

However I think we all know it's really just because men of all ages prefer girls with tight bodies whose tits don't sag to their belly buttons :noes:

while is see what you are getting at i do not believe it to be true.

i do not want kids, yet always date younger girls. why? for one i find them more attractive. two they still like to have fun and go out like i do.

i do not want kids so your reasoning does not always hold true.

I think I've dated an equal amount of older and younger guys in my past. I dated my last ex for a little over 6 years and he was 2 and 1/2 years younger than me. Now I'm with someone else who is about 4 and 1/2 yrs older than me and been with him for over a year. I'll have to say that I'm going to stick with older men because I see a huge difference in maturity.

I mean as much as you guys are knocking dues down... he may have a point:

Biologically, we could be more partial to women who we know will be able to take care of the young that are produced... 40-50 y/o women aren't as capable as 20-30y/o women.

I don't think it has anything to do with who produces eggs, but more of who will be able to keep the family line going... and going strong.

    2nd.

There isn't any real difference between a 24 year old and a 29 year old yet, but why not got 5 more years before she starts getting too old to look good, however old that is?

The other fact is that the younger a woman is the less likely she is to be in a rush and put a ton of pressure on marriage and kids.
