I'd like one too.
You are out of control
the better question should by why WOULD you want a D3.
With a D700 you're already full frame and have all the capabilities of the D3, other than the weather sealed body (which I can't imagine you needing with your type of photography) what gains would you see?
I'd so you don't want a D3, you do however want a D3x!!!!
^^ I honestly see no reason to get a D3 if you have a gripped D700. Seems like more of a gear whore "look at what I have" upgrade.
The D700 has almost identical weather sealing to the D3. Definitely better than the D300.
I don't want one for any other reason but just to say I have one! Well, maybe the dual slot CF cards.
1st dibs on your d700.
I want a D3x like I need a divorce, alimony, and a child support payment.
If you buy a D3x you'll probably get all 3!
only because that's what is likely to happen if you bought one
it's like my buddy that has a Sony A700 and his desire for the 900, he knows it'll just lead to something very bad
Won't happen, maybe the D300... but I doubt I'll be doing anything of this sort for a while. I'm still collecting badass glass.
i want a d3 too! i like the built in grip plus the look n feel
That's probably the main reason. Grips are nice, but the built in ones just 'look' more professional.
I played with a d3 this weekend. The easier question is why wouldn't you want one. I have 4500 reason$ why I don't have one, but I hope to change that sooner than later...
Fuck that noise. I prefer the 'look' of $4500 in my bank account.
Well since the D3x came out, the price of a new D3 is down to as low as $4000. Which means used ones are going for even cheaper than they were before. Like I said, I doubt its something I'm going to do anytime soon, I just would like to eventually have all FF cameras and 2 of the same ones aren't fun. Might as well have a 'variety' and keep your toy box full.
I actually like the idea of having one FF camera and one crop body. I don't see myself getting rid of my 40D when I upgrade to a 5D or 5D2. Sometimes the "extra reach" can come in handy.
I've talked with a couple of people who say that they probably would stick with a cropped body, providing it still had good qualities and wasn't really bad things like high ISO, just for the crop factor on their lenses. Sure a full frame is nice, but that 70-200 is really just that, no longer do you get that extra reach from a 1.5 or 1.6 crop and for someone shooting sports they seem to want that free extra zoom vs more megapixels.
Send me some money?
I've got this shit figured out, son. All I have to do is tell her it'll take better pictures of
drool monster... SOLD!
If you shot Nikon, I'd think about it. Wouldn't happen, but I'd think about it.
Send me money then
